Hard Drive just went missing!

I've built this computer about a year ago and it's been working fine. I have three hard drives. Just recently, about 2 to 3 weeks ago one of my drives went missing. I checked my bios and it picks up the drive just fine. For some reason vista no long picks up my IDE drive.

My other two drives are SATA and they work fine. I dont know what's going on. Any suggestions?

Identify what kind of drive it is, Western Digital, Seagate, etc. Go to their website and download their diagnostic tool and run it. This will tell you if the drive is OK or not. If it checks out OK there, it's some issue with the OS. Just curious, when you look under Control Panel | Device Manager, is it listed there?

I just went to check my bios again because i remember seeing something funny. My bios actually doesnt pick it up like the other drives. It's a Western Digital drive and my bios picks it up under the "Boot" menu only. It doesnt seem to appear anywhere else that my other Hard Drive appears.

Man this is crap...Last time i save information on the oldest hard drive...heh

Well, looks like a firmware issue...hope you can still get access to the drive one way or the other...this needs to be done first before you can even back up the stuff out of it...
