Hard drive making a strange noise

I have a one month old internal 250 gb WD Sata II Drive and once in a while it would make a shut down noise like you would hear as if you powered off the drive and a second later a turn on noise. The computer one freeze for a second and everything would run as it normally would. Could there be a problem with the drive?

use the wd drive utility

It could be that the hdd is powering down. You might want to check your power saving settings. If the hdd is not set to power down then check it using wd utilities.

Ran WD utilities and it passed all tests, and the drive isnt set to power down in the power saving settigs. could it be something else?
