I just made my own system yesterday.... I did everything right I think....
Primary master- 20 gig, 5400 rpm, ata/66 (posted 17070 on sandra 2001 std.)
primary slave- cd burner
secondary master- 40 gig, 7200 rpm, ata/100 (posted 6700 on sandra!! JESUS!)
secondary slave- 50x cd rom
I am gonna use the good harddrive for pro audio stuff only and that is why it is secondary master.... the other harddrive is for loading OS and shoot em' up games...
HOW DO I GET MORE PERFORMANCE THAN THAT OUT OF MY GOOD DRIVE?
PS DMA is turned on on everything... maybe not cd rom, not sure... (but is definitely on on all harddrives). Also DMA is set to 5 on the good drive in the bios and 4 on the bad one.
