I picked up the WD 160 box with the 200 GB inside at CC. I'll go back and try to get PM to Sam's Club. Anyone who had success with this? Is it better to PM at the time of the purchase, or go back later and PM?

It's affirmative! So far to of my Friends got them. I however had problems with the store I went to because the samsclub isn't right next door (I even know they wouldn't, but had to try). I'll call the other store today to get the pricematch...I'm not worried at all! Worst case I return and purchase at the other store! I guess you just have to make sure you have a samsclub nearby. Here are the emails I got!

Got mine at Circuit City at The Pointe - they called Sam's and asked for price, then asked me if the price was after rebate - I said 'no' and they price matched 110% no problems - even apologized to me for having to wait for Sam's to give price. Cool!

I got one fighting w/ sales rep, he didn't want to do PM from wholesale store (sams club
and I asked him that "I woud like to see your PM policy indicates that no PM w/ wholesaler"
so he couldn't showed me the policy, and gaveme a 110% pm ;-)

No ad needed to PM. Requirments are that the item has to be instock and the same model...

I just got my credit for $64.33 (PM). I did have trouble with the other store's manager saying something like the PM is after the rebates and it's less to get the rebates and wouldn't PM. Called another store, back to local store, and talked to a different manager. Told him the lastnight's manager would PM, but other store would (didn't say anything about the MIR). He said "No Problem". You just gotta talk to the right person.

Carefuly guys with WD rebates when they had they 30/70 they descided not to honor either even though they recived and processed it well before the last day the drive needed to be purchased by. since the rebate company is not affiliated with wd, i am not sure how to complain to wd about it. i am going to goto fry's and see if they can help.

just posting a warning bout them.

also looking for another 250gig (110-130)so i can try to return this one.

Successful PM to Sams. Nice deal. How are the CC rebates, by the way? One goes to Young America, the other goes to El Paso, TX. Young America rebates I've heard about. Anyone with experience with the El Paso rebate?

Also, Since my receipt now shows a PM, do you think I'll have any rebate hassles? (I know BB started denying rebates for items that have been PM'd - I don't think CC does that but I haven't done a CC rebate in quite a while). Anyone here have CC rebate experience with a PM'd item?

I've done a few wacky things with CC rebates such as price matching and open box items and sending in copies of UPCs instead of the actual UPC to qualify for two rebates (not recommended) and I have not had ANY issues with any of them. My most recent rebate for $70 cablemodem told me I had to have install scheduled through some 1-800 number instead of the local cable company. I had already scheduled the rebate through the local cable company and the 1-800 number was asking for a 1 month wait so I took my chances. They told me I would not get my rebate. I was going to just do it and fight. I got my check with no fight. I'd have to say I've never ever had any problem with any Circuit City rebates. Twice I did involve the store manager who was prepared to fight for me (once in case of this cable modem and once in case of open box item with no UPC code from box but a generic one from the owners manual) but have never had to use him. If you are in doubt stop by the store manager's office, they really do give great customer service @ CC. Sometimes that's worth more than a few extra bucks at Tigerdirect.

Thanks for the warning. I think this time I will spend $1.75 for "returned receipt" plus usual "certified fee" $2.30. Post office told me, I can either insure it -- if I did not get my rebate, I can get the insured amount. Maybe I should only insure it, it is cheaper than "return receipt" + "certified fee".

possibly, since OD does the regional crap ... (may depend on your ZIP code) ... alternatively, phone for PM after purchase, if it is listed in your local flyer.
