Alrighty, this is help for a PC illiterate friend so here goes.
He has a work PC and one morning it would not boot. He would get to the black boot screen and receive "hard drive error press CTR ALT DEL to reboot".
So I popped the hard drive (WESTERN DIGITAL WD 800 Caviar IDE Drive) and brought it to my place to try to boot it up as an external storage device through USB.
Now my PC will see it, will assign it a letter and it will show up in Windows Explorer.
However, it will not allow me to open it and get any information off of it. When you right click and try to go into the properties of the drive there is essentially no information there.
Any thoughts?
It doesn't seem dead, it has the normal click hum and whatnot of a hard drive.
