Hard drive...

Should I go Serial ATA or IDE Ultra ATA100?

I will be at school so I am not going to o/c or mess around with it too much, if that helps.

I was thinking of going Western Digital over Seagate and Maxtor. What do you think?

Stay away from Maxtor and IBM they are the suck. Right now if you've got a motherboard with on board S-ATA Segates S-SATA are VERY QUIET otherwise if your looking for topnotch performence a WD SE isnt bad at all. Either way IDE or S-ATA you cant go wrong.

I care to disagree with that comment. Both Maxtor and IBM make excellent hard drives, which rival both WD and Seagate. Each of the hard drives have their pros and cons (speed, sound, price etc.). The hard drive you get depends on your preferences and needs.

i disagree with that comment.

IBM does suck. maxtor does not

Is a 36.7GB WD Raptor for $138 really a better deal than 120GB WD SATA fro $128?
