Lol... I fell in love with that game. I loved playing it so much. My Brtoher who was into action games never understood why I loved playing it (coz everyone was into action/platformer games). I never finished it because I was only like 6 or 7 at the time, but I just loved playing it. I remember riding the raft for the first time... wow... what a feeling.
Zelda II was also cool but was way more complex for me and I never finished that either.
When a Link to the past came out, I begged my bro to buy it coz he had the say on what games were bought and he finally gave in. Well after we played for sometime, we reached the castle where you had to push the statue. We had no idea what to do and he was like this game sux and got really angry at me for buying it. We did eventually figure it out but I remember it was the first Zelda game that I ever beat.

Mario is Missing for Super Nintendo

That game was "educational" so it featured a lot of geography. It was nearly impossible for a 7 year old.

I never beat that game either. I am very persistent and I have beat all the games I have played, except this one.

Another game that was a blast although difficult was Golgo13 for NES.

Impossible Creatures for PC. The computer would always pull units out of its ass to beat anything you sent towards it, no matter how good it was.

Maximum Carnage 2 (spiderman) i broke 2 controller for SNES over this game. and i've had yet to beat it.

Batman Forever was just IMPOSSIBLE

Another vote for ninja gaiden series and battletoads. The freakin levels on battletoads where you have to weave in and out of things rushing at you (like when youre on the bike and have to avoid the walls) were SO FRUSTRATING. It took FOREVER to get past those levels.

And ninja gaiden....i played that game so much that i have all the music memorized. The NG remixes from OCremix.com are my favorite! One time I went back and played it for like 8 hours straight from start to finish. I set up the NES through my VCR and recorded EVERY cut scene to casette tape so that I could watch the entire game from start to finish and have a record of beating it. I still have it around here somewhere...

It's funny that no one mentions the original legend of zelda. I guess because it wasn't that frustrating. That game took FOREVER to finish though. Even the new timetest videos of that crazy guy completing games like SMB3 in 6 minutes show him taking like a half hour to finish zelda.

Oh and lets not forget Tetris. Anyone ever beat that when the blocks are falling faster than when you hold "down" on the controller? (level 20 i think...) That was ridiculous.
