I knew it was gonna happen. For the past 10 years I've had to tell my dad what to do to his computer and be his personal tech support. And I knew one day I would leave and he'd be screwed. Well I left 2 years ago and moved out of state, but somehow I was able to coach him through a lot of it, but now I'm in Iraq and its a bit harder. Basically, where can I point this man so he can form his on opinions and understand what the hell a front side bus is? All the stuff I find now is taking for granted that the audience knows a lot about computers, but if you didn't start it 5-6 years ago when this kind of stuff was coming out, its hard to get into, a sort of catch-22. So is there any where that has decent semi-newb guides/primers for these poor bastards?
Hes not completely incompitent. He's assembled the damn things from parts a few times, but there are always those few bugs that arise that I have to fix. But he couldnt find a motherboard for a CPU correctly if his life depended on it. Any help would be great.
