i only read the first book, after that i lost interest, but very cool to read a cliffs version what's happening in the Harry Potter world and how the legacy ends

What the hell is the ELDER WAND????

I tried looking it up on the Harry Potter encyclopedia, but there is nothing listed. My best guess is that its the 'one wand to rule them all' OR that it was the first wand that was ever created.

Also, The last line is stupid. "All is well" I was actually a bit angry at that.

Elder Wand is one of the three Deadly Hallows. It's a wand given by Death to a "fairy tale" brother who wanted a wand to beat everyone else. The other two Death given gifts are the Resurrection stone (lets you see dead people aka SSS) and the Invisibility Cloak.

out of context this sounds extremely not satisfying way to end the series. Maybe in context it will be better and i will appreciate it more.

also, WTF did she have to kill hedwig!!??!? It was an owl. I loved that owl.

News reports coming out now that some distributors "illegally" allowed some early deliveries. One said that the Baltimore Sun critic had already had a copy delivered.

Yet strangely, life goes on.

Yep, they are one of the 2 retailers mentioned that broke the 1201 saturday agreement.

On Countdown they played the clip of the guy photoing the book. They speed it up to a 15 second timeframe, but you could still catch glimpses of some images passaing by on some of the pages.

If that does turn out to be a fake (highly doubt it at this time), then that is one helluva effort there.

Something is seriously wrong with this book.

1. Lily's eyes and wand were hardly mentioned, and JK said they would be important.
2. The source of the Potter's gold was never revealed, and JK said they would be important.
3. The impenetrable cloak was not impenetrable, Mad-eye could see through it.

Are we supposed to overlook these things?

JKR has said "There is a character who does manage, in desperate circumstances, to do magic quite late in life, but that is very rare..."

Who was that?

I'm only up to Book 4...what the hell is a Horcrux?

Who was that?

1. Rowling never said that Lily's wand was important. However, you are correct that she has long said that the fact that Harry has "his mother's eyes" is "very important." Snape was loyal to Dumbledore, because he saw Lily (the love of his life) when he looked at Harry.

2. Harry is the last descendant of Ignotus Peverell, one of the three original creators of the Deathly Hallows. The book also mentions (page 671) that James Potter had "that indefinable air of having been well-cared-for, even adored". I'm guessing the riches of the Peverell family have been passed down for many generations.

3. True, this was never explained. However, it was Xenophilius Lovegood that stated the cloak gives "impenetrable concealment". Yet because only a handful of people had ever used or seen the Invisibility Cloak, how could Lovegood have fully known it limitations? Btw, Albus and Aberforth Dumbledore could also see through the cloak.

4. Don't know.

A couple more questions. I think I may have missed a bit of important info.

1. How did Dumbledore defeat Grindewald if he had the Elder Wand? How did he defeat him without killing him?

2. You'll have to forgive me, but how was Draco the master of the Elder Wand before Harry disarmed him? He may have stopped Dumbledore, but he in no way defeated him.

Harry has the "ultimate" cloak that doesn't wear out or become damaged. The rest of them are temporary and detectable.

I just read this whole thread, yet I'll still read the book and most likely enjoy it.
Do books really give suspense to anyone? Did anyone doubt that Harry would live?

Certain parts give doubt, but I knew that JK Rowling wasn't foolish enough to kill off the main character, the "Boy who lived", especially not in a kids book.

Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. I guess you'll have to watch it to find out. Or not find out.
