I don't doubt that... they're getting pretty close right now. They have to go into Hueco Mundo, find Nell and crew, fight the old espada, fight some current espada, play with some current espada, etc. So I mean, there's really not too much left for them to do until they catch up. I just want to see Nell... she quickly became my favorite character as I seem to be oddly amused by the lisp.

The manga is great, IMO. It's almost a rule that the anime has to be worse than the written form by about x100. I'm just making that up, but it's how I feel.

lol i know how you feel the manga is better but some stay close to it and whatnot, prob is popular animes stray from the manga because it doesnt go fast enough, DBZ, InuYasha Bleach... all have this issue,

people hate on inuyasha but the manga is great, filler killed the show, same with DBZ, the manga and the anime were going on at the exact same time which is why we got 20 min of nothing in a bunch of eps

Ergo proxy wasn't bad either. The opening song Kiri is still stuck in my head.

As for the melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya , it was enjoyable. It's kinda scary though, haruhi was so good ... that a more recent series ( Lucky Star ) feels like a giant commercial for people to watch Haruhi.

Another recommendation: I recently watch Gankutsuou (anime remake of the count of monte cristo) Overall not too bad if you can stomach the style of animation/textures

I own a bunch with some of my favorites being Madlax, Full Metal Panic! (and season 2), Dual, Samurai Champloo, Love Hina, Full Metal Alchemist, GitS (and season 2), Rahxephon, and Last Exhile.

I'm amazed it took so long for someone to recognize the 2nd anime you were talking about as Ergo Proxy. I liked it, but from the few shows that you apparently do like, it doesn't surprise me that you didn't enjoy it.

Like a few others, I'll recommend Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann. It's over-the-top mecha by GAINAX, and it sounds like you already liked some parts of it that you saw. Just keep going during the slow(ish) parts during the middle -- rumors say that a high percentage of the budget for the entire show was used for the last five episodes (some say 40% on the last three alone), and the quality of animation certainly doesn't make that hard to believe.

So where do you guys get your anime from? I haven't had a chance to check out anything new in a while. I'm one of the few that liked Elfen Lied. But then I like gory anime.

I also can't wait for the new EVA movies. I will watch anything having to do with Evangelion.

The real problem is people with no idea with what the original is have unrealistic expectations for the show. I believe it is just an inevitable byproduct of being overly successful in their execution, drawing in random crowd that have no taste for Yonkoma or slice of life kind of stuff. KyoAni tends to cater the fanbase of original material first and foremost, and most fans couldnt be happier with the way they have done it with Lucky Star. They had two references in total of two references to the second season of Haruhi as far as I know (way more FMP references for that matter), hardly an indicative of the entire series being a commercial for another show.

Either that, or its just the naysayers hating on moe-loaded shows, fearing their cherished moe-deprived shows would have resources siphoned away (a baseless claim at best). Personally I found the show to be brilliant, more so than Kanon, Air and Fumoffu. The only gripe/mystery to me is why they keep pushing Shiraishi Minoru so hard. Some of that stuff was funny, not THAT funny though. I would rather have konata sing more anime themes at Karaoke Clannad looks very good so far, only 2 episodes out now though.

awesome! except its just a tad bit too late, a little to late. people had been demanding this when eva craze was at its height, myself included. Gainax never cease to amaze me with their unmatched skills in rehashing the same old material over and over again... the show is friggin 12 years old and they are still at it!
