So my computer has been running fine. No problems at all. Nothing has changed and all of a sudden it wont start up. I turn it on and the leds show some harddrive activity but the monitor never comes on. I tried swapping monitors and that didnt help. I tried putting a brand new video card in and that didnt help either. I've let it sit there for about 20 minutes and checked the network to see if the computer is booting up but maybe just the video isn't working and thats not the case either. Not really sure where to go from here. I'm getting no post beeps or anything........

XP Pro.. Connections are good. All fans are on. Can't try safe mode because I can't get anything to show on the screen

Just bought a new power supply to try out

If you're not even getting to POST, you're probably looking at a failure of either RAM, CPU, power supply or motherboard. RAM isn't likely, as you'd have to have a completely dead stick to keep the computer from reaching POST. Still, it's easy to test for; if you have two DIMMs, remove one and see if anything changes. If not, try it with the other DIMM.

clear the CMOS and see if that helps. Also, any chance you played with HDDs at all improper jumper settings may (MAY) be a cause.

likely something between the psu and board blew... check all the traces and voltage regulators.

At this point I'm pretty sure there was a power surge that fried something as my modem and router were dead as well. I've got a new psu I'm about to try but have a bad feeling it's the mobo

If the computer is poweing on, am I most likely wasting my time by swapping psu's?
