Who cares? Anyone sitting on a current gen card would be silly to jump on 5XXX unless:
A. They are hardware enthusiats and want to play around with new hardware
or
B. 5XXX is so great, there is no point in waiting to see anything else.
89F? Try 92F and 50+% humidity daily. The low today is 74F AT NIGHT! A Core i7 would catch fire down here LOL.

Just asking!

However, we did learn at that AMD has a card with performance better than Radeon HD 4850 but consuming less than 75W. We would expect this to be a flavor of Redwood, RV830. Evidently, AMD has mastered the 40nm process and managed to reduce power consumption while maintaining good performance.

I'm not exactly sure if that the same wombat I'm thinking about..... If it is the same wombat, wombat was one of the best fps gamers years ago. He owned at counter-strike 1.6 and I remember him leaving cs 1.6 to play one of the quake games and played at a high level like he did at cs 1.6. I have no idea what wombat is up to these days or if he still games or not.... i was one of his many fans

Why would anyone with a current generation card jump on the next gen without seeing the price to performance ratio of both companies?
New AMD cards with old NV cards?
Next gen V next gen.
Hell, even throw the last gen in there. Why not. AMD has great price/performance right now. Why wouldnt you compare?

I don't think there is any reason to wait when the 5800 launches, assuming it's a good performer. I doubt lots of people waited when the GeForce 8800's were launched. I would imagine the Radeon 58x0 launch could very well be similar, it'll be capable of the next DX version, like the 8800 and assuming the specs are in the ball park it should be easily the fastest single GPU around, much like the 8800 launch. Assuming it's not priced in the stratosphere I don't see much reason to wait if the performance is there.

I can see a lot of 5XXX on ebay at the end of the year if GT300 stomps the 5XXX and isnt priced for royalty only.

Not that I know of, because I don't have one yet Earlier AMD releases I got the cards maybe a week, two weeks before launch. Then again, this is Anandtech, the website I work for isn't quite in the same league.
I don't care though, I'm off to vacation for 2 weeks and when I come back the rumoured 10th of september will be pretty close. And who knows, maybe the European launch will take place before the North American launch Something like 8-9 september ?

You might have heard rumors of some odd memory configurations going around and a source close to AMD has confirmed this. Numbers are pointing to something like 384-bit and GDDR5 with the high-end X2 part, 192-bit and GDDR5 with the performance part, and then scaled down to 96-bit and perhaps even 48-bit with lower-end parts. The numbers are still pending confirmation, but we are quite confident AMD will bring some odd memory configurations to the market with Evergreen

Hey, I opened the link and i read nordichardware's info!

Well i don't have a technical background, and i guess nordichardware is a big (Nordic?) hardware site, so for the guys there, technology is their life!
But can some explain to me, how is it possible to have DDR memory interface like 48-bit with 64bit DDRAM?
Why they reporting (confidently) 96-bit & 48-bit memory interface?
Also if this is not possible, why they wait for a confirmation?
Can someone tell me if their site is sucessful (I will open one too!)
Just kidding!
