HDD invisible in Windows 7, HELP!!

So I bought the Vantec's EZ-SWAP EX enclosure for my 120GB 2.5" Hitachi IDE that was lying around.

The installation was easy, BIOS immediately detected the IDE drive but when I booted in Windows 7 it would not show me the drive. I went to Computer Management>Disk Management>Storage and there was no mention of the drive.

The same drive is accessible in Ubuntu 9.04. Any idea what might be the problem?

Also the drive is accessible when I connect it via USB in Windows 7.

It's not detected via eSATA, is that what you mean?

In order to get eSATA to work you should have AHCI enabled. If the eSATA port is rooted in SB7x0 and you have not enabled AHCI at the time of Windows installation, you cannot enable it afterward. Well, you can, but it's tricky and not worth the hassle over simply using it via USB.

If the eSATA port is provided through a separate disk controller (probably JMicron), then you need to 1) enable it in the BIOS, and 2) install the drivers.

Hey there, I got it working I inserted the windows 7 dvd in windows opertation and started the setup. In the "format drive" menu I hit refresh and my hitachi drive was detected I have no idea about the technical reasons behind it, but it just worked thank you for your reply!!
