HDD to HDD copy?

I want to move all my stuff on my scsi hdd (including OS, system files etc), to an IDE drive that i am putting in. I am running Windows XP.
Is there a way I can do that without buying 3rd party software?

IF i boot off of the windows XP and go into the console can i do it in there?

I use to call on Xcopy for my transfers. As long as you remember to make the partition you are transfering
to Active. At the Command Prompt within Windows type C:\ X \/s/e/h/c/k/r. I never tried this with XP but
its simple and worth a try. X= New Hard Drive

Ghost or Drive Image will do it.

xcopy will -not- work.

If your IDE drive is Maxtor, they have a free utility on their website that will do it for you and it works quite well. Other drive manufacturers may have such a utility as well.

i don't think you can do it w/o the help of 3rd party software
just like everybody said....


GHOST.. if you don't have it some mobo manufacturers put it in their software bundle...
or drive image.

Hey anyone ever used ghost for that? that what i use works great. Drive copy also will do it.
