I'm only asking as my online searches have shown nothing, but I've been surprised out of the blue before. Would be really nice, as it seems to me that that all current HD tuner cards that I can find are made with the notion that people only get their channels over the air.

I'm a little confused what you mean by "internal TV tuner with HDMI".. You mean a PCI tuner that has an HDMI input or something?

Yeah, the question makes no sense. Try rephrasing it, using the terms "clear QAM", "ATSC", and "encrypted QAM".

There is no frequency to tune for in an hdmi signal, hence you'll never see an hdmi tuner card. If there is such a card for you, it's called something else, not a tuner.

Rough guess-timate: 50% have QAM support

HDTV PCI Tuner Card & USB HDTV Tuner Chart

And cablecard is here.

Don't like it ... but it's here.

Oops, well just meant a pci card that had HDMI input for VIDEO-IN.. Like say for a Satellite/Cable box or Blueray player.

Would feel like a moron, but every internal card I've ever seen with video-in has has ALWAYS HAD A TUNER on it anyways.

BTW, thanks heyheybooboo for the link. Seems the MyHD MDP-130 can be had with DVI, but could be out only for all that site bothers to mention.

I already have a Kworld ATSC 120 which supports QAM and has great picture quality (newer conexant chip). However I have Dish so I need either DVI or HDMI-in for HD TV from them. Already have an HD DVR for the living room TV, just would be nice to get an plain HD box for the computer room and theirs no space for another HDTV in here .

there is no dvi nor hdmi input device for computers, and there never will be. the best you can do is a firewire connection with hacked drivers and loads of luck.

Wow, that is stupid as heck but I was worried this was the case. Why would they even put S-Video in on these cards if having video-in is such taboo?

composite (yellow RCA) and s-video are limited to 480i, and suffer analog deterioration. component (RGB) and digital connections support HD, and media companies have no intention of letting you handle premium (encrypted) content on your computer.

Well still, seems like its one of those things that only be a matter of time. In time ATSC standard HD will be no different than NTSC and the orwellian media elements will have no more control over it than the past standards. With QAM cable we already have all the technical in place. I have a hard time believing card manufactures on Taiwan and China have much to fear from them as it is.

hardware companies would love to sell us that stuff, but breaking DRM is a federal offense, and nowadays that supercedes legitimate uses. the sale of hardware for the purpose of circumventing the law (that's how this is viewed) is not going to happen. you are guilty of being a thief, and the only way to prove your innocence is to pay lots and lots of money, over and over.

ohwell, guess I'll just have to buy it from overseas eventually if I still care when they do make them. Nothing to worry about if your not going to anything with it that could come back at you.

lol. Things like DRM and encryption aren't targeted at the majoirty who are honest. It's targeted at that minority who aren't. Unfortunately the majority has to suffer because of those few who do/would abuse an open system.

yep, Well there still is a way around for what I want to do... And thats just getting a monitor with HDMI and a plethora of others, just switch inputs from when I want to watch TV or not. A decent S-IPS monitor that can do 1080p is just another $500 to save up for, and the extra money for yet another DVR

Was just mentioning getting a TVcard overseas as it would be made for a market not under the yolk of DRM and hence no technicalities keeping it from existing. Not doing any tuning as I will just be going off the cable box like a TV does.
