HDTV's as a monitor?!

Like I said, I have a 37" Westy and like it.

But it can't hold a candle to the new Gateway XHD3000 30" monitor. Not even close.

It's not as glamorous as it sounds.. i have a 50" samsung DLP and I can't game on it..with a FPS keyboard and mouse. Probably b/c I don't have a comfy gaming surface. But otherwise it's cool for console and 3rd perspective games. Sitting distance is the key. For the PC gaming I'd rather use a 24 or 32 incher.

I have a Tosh S20 Projector with 100' screen however it is only 800x600, so no good for the PC....Also it is hard to see during bright sunny days, although the curtains do help...

I'd go for a HDTV Plasma next....Much much better colours than the LCD!

i have a 56" 1080P toshiba DLP sit about 9-10 feet away and its absolutely perfect.

I was considering using a HDTV as a monitor, but my impression is they have bigger lag than PC monitors. Instead I decided to go with a Samsung 27-inch LCD, 1920x1200, sitting about 18 inches away. The dot pitch is perfect - big enough to read text easily, and small enough to not appear blocky, while providing a 3 inch bigger vieweing area than 24in monitors.

I have a 50in in the main room, just dont have the hardware (yet) to try that out.
Though I will in a few weeks, when my new rig arrives.

theres no missing any point. the optimal set up for everyday work, gaming, etc, is a nice 24" wide. just superior picture period
