Heatsink Fan Help installing!!!

Just got my Mobo, heatsink & Processor and will install it soon. When i opened the box for my heatsink the plastic that covers the was already fallen off. Is is still ok to install the processor?

The pad seems to be very thin and not sticky, is it possible it could have been damaged? My mate had a heatsink/fan (same as mine) but his had a thick sticky pad? Whats the difference?

My heatsink is a Coolermaster Socket A - 1.2GHz!

No, just got a few frekeld spots in it, nothin serious! so its ok to install it? I just dont wanna fry it thats all!

Remember that when applying the HS compound or pad that a little is a lot. I had put a substancial amount of HS compound on my system when I was installing the HSF on the cpu. I found my temps to be rather high at first and after I removed all of it and replaced it with the smallest layer that I could possibly apply my temps went down by 10 degrees (Average). Try using some compound instead of the pads.
