Heatsink Fan - Someone answer!

Okay, I'm having a duh moment. I admit it. But I need to know because I'm sitting here with my PC taken apart and before I fire her back up I got to know the answer.

I just put my XP-90 Heatsink in and I'm attaching the fan...........but do I put the fan on intake or exhaust? Should the fan be blowing towards the CPU or taking heat off it?

You can try it both ways and see what performs better. There is really no right or wrong way...

The fan should blow into the heatsink so the airflow can disapate heat. Exhaust mode dosen't work to well.

I got better temps blowing away from the heat sink on my xp90 but try it both ways.

Setting the fan to blow into the heatsink may also cool your RAM or MOSFETs, depending on your mobo's orientation and which way you mount it... my XP-90 hangs over DIMM slots 1 and 2 and my RAM catches a nice breeze. Good thing too, that stuff gets pretty hot nowadays.
