Hybrid copper aluminium like the SP-92 exept bigger and for multi platform actually..

Thanks for the welcome.

My company is a reseller of Thermalright heatsinks. Authority of Thermalright, there is no SP-120 or SP-92 heatsink in the works, nor will there be soon. This information comes from two seperate TR employees. So again, the SI-120 is not being discontinued. In fact, there will never be another SP series, SP-97 and SP-94 were the last of that breed which was discontinued years ago. The new heatsink you were being told was coming soon that Bob could not discuss back in November, was the HR-01, which is available now.

I read at SPRV that they doubted about releasing the HR-01, why was that?

If there is any truth to it, If I had to guess I'd have to say it was because it was their first passive sink. Sorry to get the thread off topic but some of my customers have asked me about the SI-120 rumor and the record needed to be set straight.

I wonder how good the contact was with the CPU as it really should be much closer in performance to the XP-90 - only a few degrees off is what quite alot of review reported.

Also it should be beating the Artic Cooling Freezer 4 on the 17dB just because of better design.

I suspect something is slightly off there as I don't notice big climbs in temperature as the fan spins down as they did down to 17dB.

Could be worth firing off an email to ask how good the contact was.

So, did i read this right.....

quote from MadShrimps...
"The Blue ORB II is undoubtedly the very best HSF I've used to date and not simply based on CPU temps, it also cools a large amount of motherboard real estate where it matters most, including memory on many boards"

So heat pipes arent the way to go ?...cant wait for the long overdue Big Typhoon review.....

please note the name of the AUTHOR! It was not tested by me, but by a fellow reviewer in the US, Liquid3D. So it's the best HSF that HE has tested yet, I doubt it'll be the best overall;

very nice thread indeed, makes it nice and easy to find everything. up to date, too. good job

but, ofcourse, i have a question. could you add some GPU cooler reviews aswel? if they exist, because i cant find anything with a few googles, and i would definatly be interested how the vf700 compares vs the artic silencer, differences between the CU and Alcu and so on. if it too much trouble then dont bother but i cant imagine im the only one interested in that aswell

will a passive zalman northrbridge cooler be blocked by the graphics card. i have an eVGA 7800gtx ko.

also, can someone suggest two best aftermarket hsf? one based on the cpu temps. the other based on quietness under HIGHEST fan speed.

Man. That thermaltake sonic tower looks sweet. I may have to buy that thing and give it a try. It looks like its an insane passive cooler.

EDIT: Actually after reading further, it seems like the ninja is still better. Looks like it costs more than the ninja and also has some install issues : /

Anyone own one of those and have any experience?

Btw this is a great sticky thread.
