Hellgate London Multiplayer

I have read that Hellgate London does not have Lan play. If you want to play multiplayer you must plan online. Normally I play lan games with a group of 3 other friends and we all play in the same location. Does anyone know the bandwidth requirements for Hellgate? Basically, before we go out and buy hellgate we'd like to know if it is likely to be possible for all 4 of us to play from the same location over a 5Mbps/512 cable connection. Has anyone tried this?

I have been playing hellgate london online since its release and i have been loving every moment of it. Hamachi software should slove the LAN. Also if you guys are going to play hellgate london Multi-player online on same network , then it doesn't matter what connection you really have, just need the server in same place.

If you were one of the people who bought BF1942 when it came then you know how buggy the game was and how the gameplay was really not polished and also the gun combat was crap. It took dice months before they fixed 90% of the problem with 1.5 patch.

While I know what you are referring to having played the game and read other complaints about this issue, I am having a different experience. I don't find the maps to be as repetitive as many are making it sound. While I would love to have seen more tilesets in the game, I am having a ton of fun playing it being a huge Diablo 2 fan.

D2 was how this genre should be done. everything since has sucked, except for maybe titan quest, but it still wasn't as fun as D2.

I think you only played uptill level 10... game gets much better after you get some good new skills. Dude :! finish the single player :! i think your attiude will change afterwards. Okay a history about Diablo :!

So Blizzard as in the Blizzard company didn't make Diablo :! . After Warcraft 3 blizzard north put all their resources in WOW which made some people unhappy :

They left the Billzard and found their own company Flagship Studios. The problem they had was the game wasn't finished and right after the 1st beta the game was forced into gold. EA wanted it to come out Q4 2007. Anyways if these people had stayed in Blizzard then these people would rich . Ahh if they never sold Condor then Diablo , Warcraft would have been never been Blizzard title. Also the reason alot of designer from Warcraft , Diablo , Starcraft even left were because conflict with Blizzard Entertainment's owner, Vivendi. This happen just before WOW was released. 18 major employee of blizzard north Left :! even developers of WOW. problem was 8 left to make Hellgate london and other 9 left make their own company Castaway Entertainment. Anyways , i think next game by flagship studios should be awesome because their team finally got some decent engine tech developers.

HGL got good when I met up with my buddies and we got about half way trough the game, we get online and chat it up while mindlessly killing waves and waves of baddies. Not too shabby for a game with no monthly fee. I started playing again after the last wave of patches and it was alot better.

It wasn't supposed to be a D2 clone like Titan Quest. They just used some of the concepts and RPG rules from D2 and built their game on top of it. One thing is for certain. There is no other game like Hellgate. While I will not claim that all of its features are unique, I will say that the combination and utilization of the features cannot be found in any other game. There is a lot of room in this game for new creative fun ways to play an RPG which Flagship took advantage of. However, when any company tries to come up with something new, that means there is also a lot of room for mistakes. Mistakes mean there is a lot of room for improvement. That means with the right amount of time, money, and brain power other games will hopefully see the potential that Hellgate has and create something 5 star which will be played for many years. That is what I find exciting about new ideas like this one.

I don't understand how Hamachi applies to this. In order to play Hellgate London do you not have to play online on their server? This would mean that each of our 4 computers (all in the same house sharing a single internet connection) would have to send info back and forth to the Hellgate London server, wouldn't it? What I am trying to find out is if this is likely to work.

I would and did buy the game.

Hellgate is pretty darn fun, but I can see how it is repetitive to some people.

I WILL NOT PAY $10 A MONTH FOR FLUFF PATCHES!

I played up to lvl 15 maybe? wasn't doing anything for me.
I also found a trainer and used that test out some skills and stuff and get a higher level so I could get further in the game to see if it interested me more. I can say for sure that it doesn't. The story is mainly non-existent. The quests suck and are just like every other MMORPG type quests - kill x enemies, find x of item a.

the unchanging levels/areas are also horrible. i think they shot themselves in the foot by limiting it to a single city. everything is just so drab and blah.

the skills suck and really don't offer much. i have trouble deciding what to put my points in, not because there's so many cool skills i can't decide, but its because none look worth putting points into.

the enemies are boring and just run/fly/jump at you. the only challenge is that some of them have insane amounts of HP and/or do insane amounts of damage.

items are horrible. i rarely find anything usable or even cool. most of the items that drop are useless because the stats suck or its for eevry class but mine and rarely better than what I have already. most of the models look like they were designed by a monkey with Down's syndrome.

I keep reading how Diablo 2 was some fantastic, outstanding game, but I found it boring. Diablo 1 was much more fun, and Diablo 2 was just a rehash of the original with a few more options. I got the game, but I barely spent any time with it. I did finally decide to work my way through the game to beat it, and Diablo was pretty darn difficult, but I just didn't like it as much as the original.

The skills don't suck. They are just difficult to understand their value until you try them out for a while once you put in a good number of points. The problem here is that there is no way to respec.

I enjoyed many of the models and the frequency of items that are useful for your class/build are about as much as D2 I would say, but not quite. There could be some additional work put into the item generation in regards to making it a bit less random when it comes to combinations of stats.

In the end, it sounds mostly like you picked the wrong class for your tastes. Each class is very different and a lot of people end up having tons of fun playing one class/build but find the game utterly boring in another.

Unfortunately it's true. I was thinking to myself, if someone actually asked me if they should buy this game, I would honestly have to answer no, even though I have been playing it off and on since before launch. There are just better games out there; a lot of better games.

Repetitive tile sets are what killed this game for me. Its a shame too, because I really enjoyed the way combat works. It could have been such a great game if they just added a little more variety. It sucks playing the same level over and over and over and over and over etc....
