Cliffs: Hit rock bottom, lost weight, handed over business, worked at 2 startups, created something that was stolen, love finance stuff, and read Atlas Shrugged.
Wow.... so it's been a few years since I've posted here. I'm a senior at Purdue now, I'll finish a year late with a degree in Management with a Finance concentration. I might have a few other minors (CS, Spanish, Entrepreneurship), depending on which I pick to finish.
Here's what I've been up to:
1. When I left, I had hit rock bottom in my life - I had no life at all, I was working Friday nights, gained a lot of weight, grades were horrible, etc.
2. I've lost ~40 pounds from biking, running, and swimming.
3. I've worked at 2 startup businesses, and failed at my hosting business. I ran the hosting business as a technician, not a manager, and so I handed it off to Idologic.
4. I "invented" something that's been on TV (ABC/CNN), but was not given credit, because it was actually stolen. I can't say much more for now.
5. I've been interested in Finance stuff a lot, and based on basic value investing principles (envelope has 50 cents, I pay a quarter for it, etc.), I've had a pretty good year.
6. I'm involved with a few other things - on the board of a publishing foundation, following a few companies very closely, etc.
7. Reading - If you haven't read this book, Atlas Shrugged, go read it NOW. Get the audio book or the real book, whatever you enjoy, and read it. I can't tell you how much I've gained from it.
There's other things I've been involved in too - I was breeding shrimp for a little while (Crystal Red Shrimp if you care to look it up), took a cruise and had a blast (won both of their poker tournaments), etc.
Anyway, no idea if I'll be on AT a lot like I used to, but I wanted to say hi to everyone. I've been trying to get my life back in order (socially, mentally, physically, etc.) and so if I've caused you trouble, I apologize. I did make mistakes and if you've suffered, send me a PM. Life's a bit too short for me to commit a mistake and ignore it.
Oh yeah, another thing, I switched to a Mac a few months ago, and it was possibly one of the best choices I've ever made. Not sure if folks on here still hate them a lot, but I should have done it sooner. I will say that the longer you wait, the more you'll love the switch.
