I just bought essentially a new computer from newegg.

I got a MB ASUS K8N-E DELUXE NF3 RTL
VGA PWRCLR|R98-PC3F/128BIT RTL ATI video card
CASE ROSEWILL|TU-155 BLACK 400W
CPU AMD 64 |3200+ ATHLON 64 512KRTL
2 DDRAM512MB|CORSAR64X64 VS512MB400
I have an 80 gig hard drive which I had from another computer with windows xp on it.

I put it all together and I've been having all kinds of problems. What I'm finding right now that?s annoying me is when I plug in my usb wireless D-land card and it's not getting any juice. I plugged it into the front usb port and when I did that it restarted my computer. I'm thinking that maybe I have a really bad power supply and maybe I should go out and buy a new one. I'm really new to all this so I'm not sure what to do. So any advice you may have at this point would be great. What are some steps I can take to make sure that the power supply unit I have is enough for all I running? Also I found a red switch on the back of it where I can change from 115 to 230 does any one know what that does? I tried switching to the 230, but the computer right after it powers up powers back down.

That red switch is for changing your voltage input like if you were in a country using a different electrical standard.

You need a new power supply. The one you have is junk and worth $2.

Did you do a fresh install of windows on that hard drive?

^ what amdskip said. Enermax, Fortron, Antec, or PC Power & Cooling are some proven brands.

Are the front USB connectors connected properly on the motherboard. Just check with your manual. Go to device manager, in the add hardware in systems, and find out if there is a yellow mark against any device. If yes let me know. If not tell me when you connect the device to the USB port on the rear, does your mouse pointer change into an hourglass. Let me know. Then probably I will be able to offer some advice.

Here's what I found out and thank you guys for all your thoughts. Yes I will probly get a new power supply, but I can budget it untill next semester when I get more fincial aid. I found out that it wasn't my power supply. It turns out that the D-link usb wireless adapteter that I was using was my problem, I was just assuming that there was something wrong with my computer because I just put it together. But after much testing and taking apart my computer and putting it back together- which I didd find out that I didn't have all the screws in my mother board to ground it. So after calling D-link I got hte wireless adapter to work...so as of right now my computer seems to running supper sweet and stable now. thanks for you guy who gave me advice.
