Seriously, I am freezing right now. I only have the fans that came with the case (2 120mm fans) going and it is blowing like an AC on my legs. Any software out there that would let me slow these down or something? I'm cold!

Well, like I know there is the program SpeedFan, and I downloaded it and used it (i think) properly (used their help screen). Now when I load the program, everything is nice and green (temps are like 12C), and all of the speeds are at 0% (automatically variated). But the fans are still blowing and the floor near my computer is actually icy.

Disable fan control on your motherboard and it will kick everything up to 100%. Then you can use SpeedFan to properly control those fan speeds. Hope this helps.

Oh, thanks.. how exactly do I go about disabling fan control on my motherboard?

Temps are not 12c, your sensor is borked.

The best solution for this kind of problem is cardboard and duct tape. Seriously.
Get yourself a sheet of cardboard, cut it and fold it to make some baffles to direct the air away from your legs, and tape it to your case. I'm running my backup machine this way right now, since my PSU has an extremely loud fan which is pointed towards me.

Thanks pkrush. I might have to try that as the only place I can put the case is under my desk where it is right now.

That would only work if the fans are connected to the motherboard. Most cases come with fans that plug directly to the PSU. In that case, you could always undervolt (cheaper) or get a fan controller (more costly). Also, as suggested above you can direct the air so that it is not flowing past you. Your ambient temperatures must already be really low if a slight breeze is making it "icy". Maybe don't wear shorts near your computer in an already cold room?

It's decently cold at my desk (probably 60F in the room at any given time - pretty cold for indoors.) My case has a 3x120mm fan radiator mounted to the front door of the case. They spin at a very low RPM, but opening the door of the case is enough to give me the chills.

On a side note, I idle at something like 19-22C stock speeds.

KILCAN,
1. you're cpu temp is not 12C,
2. turn down your AC or close your windows
3. move your pc so that it isn't blowing at your legs
4. SUNBEAM RHEOBUS

I'm not so sure, my 3.4E would disagree with you. I have a nice idle around 44-48C and full load around 74C. That's with a Scythe Katana Cu, mind you!

Smithfields are the Pentium-D version of the Prescott core. Basically, two Prescotts strapped together.

The 805 is a nice cheap space heater that can do some number-crunching at the same time.
