what is the direction of air flow of you CPU fan. I know some CPU fan force the air towards to power supply, some towards the drive are?
also, IFICUDIWUD has a good suggestion of turning the case upside down, and turn around the cdrom, flopy drive etc. So you can have a case as most other design.
use google.com and search "air duct cpu" you should see why i suggest fan air duct. even without a fan on the air duct, you should be cooler. And this is something that do not need a lot of money and you can try it right the way. (test it out, do a experiment like replace the door case with some newspaper to cover the case, tape it up. then make a hole just up the CPU and build a duct with some hard paper to form a tunnel. It should big enough to surround the CPU fan, but not block the sink (air go out from there). Measure the length of duct to heat sink. Just be creative. There is no exact solution in case mod/cooling. Too many fans may hurt your hearing.
air duct exp like this
but please keep the fan on heat sink, you do not need to remove it.
intel
out of plastic
One note, most of fans i get from excess-solutions are wires without the connector. I think it is good because you may want to connect to the Power supply's 12V lines out, rather than to the motherboard, given that they draw larger current (those 92MM, 120MM model)
My thinking is the Pano fan is quiet but weak. (i use it myself.) after i get a 120mm fan. i can feel the different! The noise is ok and i can always switch to 7v to operate them (i DIY a 12v/off/7v baybus) fanbus/ baybus
