I recently bought a Linksys BEFCMU10 ver. 2 cable modem for my cable connection. It has been up and running for only 10 days and I already encountered a crash.
All of a sudden the internet connection stops working. I look at the modem and the lights are blinking fine. The fix is to unplug the modem and plug it back in allowing it to reset. After the reset is complete the connection is working again with no additional configuration.
This is my most dreaded problem as it could occur during an important one time only connection or during a download or upload and result data loss or system failure or something even worse. And it would also mean that I would not be able to connect to the system remotely if needed.
This used to happen with an RCA modem very frequently but it did not occur in the first 10 days of use. When I used a Motorola modem I never encountered this problem.
I was told that the Linksys modem should be even better then the Motorola which is why I bought it. But now it is to late to return it and I don't know what to do to avoid this potential disaster.
If anyone encountered this problem with this modem and knows of a way to fix it please help me.
Thank You
