hi anandtech,
i have upgraded from my socket 775 to a sandybridge i7 2600k specs are in my sig.

the problem i am having is getting all the bios setting correct for a decent overclock. i am wanting to get it to around 4.4ghz my cooler keeps it in low 60's using prime95 but i keep getting workers stopping and when loading games up i get a blank screen and no signal pops up on the screen now the last few months it has worked fine and this has jst started to happen i was thinking it could be a psu problem? but i thought 750w would be plenty thinking of upgrading to a psp everest 800w 85 plus modular psu or a

GIGABYTE 800W ODIN GT MODULAR 80+ 14cm Fan + Cable Mgmt

what do you guys this of the 2?

to try solve the problem of losing signal when overclocked.
if anyone can help me out with problem or rec a psu in the £60-70 range i would gladly appreciate it.
thanks again.

I need to know some info. Whats teh exact model PSU
What are youre exact OC setting (vcore, FSB, Multi, HT)
are you OCing RAM
Are you OCing GPU?

750w is more tehn plenty for a modest OC like that, considering the rest of your system doesnt draw that much power. The only reason it would be the PSU and not an unstable OC (they degrade over time) is if the PSU is crappy.

since im new to the i7 i only change the multiplier to x44 leave bclock at stock my vcore is 1.310v and ram is @ stck 1333mhz even tho the ram has a xmp for 1600mhz the psu is a rather cheap one i must admit did not buy a new one for the build to save on money for the i7 and board. ill find out now i still think i have the invoice saved on ebay for the3 psu.

OK, you mihgt try raising vcore to 1.35v, and what about HT (hyperthreading).

If the PSU turns out to be crap this:

Will more than suit your needs. Its good quality, gold certified and outputs all the power it claims it does (648w out of 650w) you dont need any more than 650 for your build, i bet this could run dual graphics cards if you wanted it to. I used to run a GTX 470 and a GTX 275 with a phenom 2 X4 @ 4.0 on a 650w bronze certified PSU.

Corsair isnt the best anymore. XFX is a good alternative, if you want the best of the best get seasonic. Corsair is overpriced IMO, but all of them are great choices, and none are crap. If you want extra power go with 750, you only need 650 so dont get anything less than that.

With HT on its difficult to OC, it doubles core count. Even if it isnt the CPU id get a new PSU ASAP, i dont trust 39$ 750w PSU's
