I recently bough dlink's phoneline networking kit, in an attempt to share my cable connection with my dad's comp. These are the cards that you plug into existing phonelines they work on frequencies like dsl. Anyway supposedly the installation is a piece of cake. First problem i ran into is you can't even put the into a pci slot...you have to bend the metal back plates cuz they don't fit in correctly. Secondly i can't get the computers to detect each other on the network. In the Server comp i'm running Windows ME. I have a 3com NIC that is used with an external cable modem. Then there is the dlink card. I installed both plug and play went fine no errors. Same with the client comp. I set it to same workgroup with different comp names. But still no luck getting them to detect each other. Dlink cards have a link LED light and if it's not lit up they aren't working right. Anyone used these cards before? or anyother home phoneline network cards?? I can't get these things to work.
