Help-No Power

Me and my friend built his computer tonite, with an x-navigator case with aspire 500 watt power supply, 7900gs, intel core 2 duo e6400, 1gig corsair ram, and an nvidia p5n se deluxe mobo. We built the whole thing, put it on his desk, plugged in the power, turned on the power supply, and pushed hte power button on the case..... nothing.


we tried everything, from changing the power cable to plugging it directly into the wall. Is there anything else we can do, and how do we know which part is DOA, the Power Supply or the mobo? Please help.

if the mobo's LED is lighting up then its not the PSU... its the power supply .. also just incase test the power buttons cable connector

Well, first check if it's something simple like the case.

Find the PW SW jumper on the mobo (which I hope should currently have the power switch header connected to it from the case), and make contact between the + and - with something like a screwdriver. I tend to just use a jumper pin if I don't have my screw driver near by. Does it start? I've also gone as far as cutting the power supply's wires to force the PSU to start and everything else to start with it.

Anyway, if nothing happens when you short the pw sw jumper, then see if you can get your hands on a known-working PSU.

Is the hsfan connected to the proper mobo connector?

I got the same feeling, like maybe they didnt connect everything as it should be.
