In Q3 if you bring the console down by pressing "~" you type timedemo 1 and then you use your mouse to go through the menu to Demos and then double click on the one you like to use. When the demo is done you will see the main menu again. Just bring the console down again and you will see your average FPS.
and i believe this command will display the fps on the screen at all times:
/cg_drawfps 1
oh and set your maxfps to 120...its the best spot and due to a bug in the game you can make some jumps when your maxfps is at 120 that you can't at any other setting.
To run Q3 demo, go to the main menu and press ~, type timedemo 1, enter, type demo demo127.
After the demo, press ~ again to find your FPS.
To find fps for UT, during the game, press ~, type timedemo 1, press ~ again.
I know there's a way to run the UT demo, I did it before, I just forgot.
Thanks to all that replied, The \cg_drawfps1 works however when i try any of the demos nothing plays (i.e. I dont see anything) stuff comes up in the console but i just have the menu on the screen I'm assuming i should see the game playing, any ideas?? thanks
To do a timedemo in UT.....start a practice session and then hit the console. Type "timedemo 1" and hit enter. Then type "start cityintro" and then again hit enter. It will run through the entire opening flyby sequence and when it's finished, bring down the console again and it will show the average fps. Good luck!
