Well, I am currently in a debate about which otherboard I want to buy. I just read the artical anandtech posted about all the KT266A motherboards out there. I was looking at getting the Asus A7V266-E, but now I am torn between that and the Abit KR7A-Raid. I just have read more people complaining about problems with the Abit board then the Asus, as far as initial setup. You have to spend a lot more time tweeking the entire system.
I am farely new the OC'ing. I have messed around with it, but my current machine has not really been touched as far as OC'ing (Slot a 550Mhz). I want to know any special ways of attaching the heatsink to the processor. Such as taking off the aluminum cover on the processor. If doing so, how much presure can the dye take. I am going to be using a Swiftech MCX370-BLA heatsink with a Thermaltake 60mm fan. I was thinking about getting the copper base for the swiftech, but I was thinking that might be to much for the processor (any suggestions here would be great). I also plan on ordering some Arctic Alumina thermal compound for application of the heatsink.
Much beond any of this, I am somewhat at a loss. For all you OC'ers out there. What do you recommend I do when putting this all together (what causions do you have for me also).
Any info you guys can give would be great,
Thanks.
