HELP!!PCI video advice!!!!

Ok Experts,

My sister has an AMD k62-500 CPU\Mobo without an AGP slot, she is on a very tight budget right now and doesn't want to put money into a new PC yet, BUT her video card just bit the big one and I'm looking for a PCI replacement that will decently play games like Unreal Tourney and Quake 3. Any suggestions?

A TNT2 M64 would be another good choice, I have one in my Son's K6-2/500 Systems and it works well on a 15" Monitor. You can get a 16MB card at MWAVE for $25.00. VISIONTEK RIVA TNT2
Otherwise, try Ebay for a Voodoo 3 Card.

i would stay away from the m64.. it ws pretty crappy for CS IMHO. but i guess that depends on what OS she is running. if she is running win9x... V3 all the way. i'm not sure exactly about the w2k drivers for the V3... they seem to get mixed reviews. if she is running like XP... then i guess the m64 might be your only choice (becuz of ur budget).

Great, but a question, how does this compare to a Voodoo 3???and would the TNT2 M64 be a good replacement card for a Voodoo banshee??? I have a k62 500 machine with AGP that Id like to upgrade that card as well. Is this the same thing as the TNT2 Vanta?????

Do not get an M64. Get a Geforce MX 400 PCI or a radeon PCI. I have a K6-2+ 450 and had an m64. Quake 3 23.3 FPS Overclocked my system to 575 MHz and guess what? Still 23.3 FPS. It's a crippled dead card. You can forget about running any game that's not out yet. I can get 40+ FPS with an MX 400. You'll probably get mid 30's.

radeon PCI. It serves very well in Q3 and CS. Good enough if you are not a big gamer.

Well, for a PCI card I would go with either the NVidia GeForce 2 MX-400 32 or 64MB, or the 3DFX VooDoo 5 5500 PCI 64MB. Although 3DFX are gone, their cards are still flouting around.
