Help, puter problems.

yes i know i know wrong forum but im on a friends puter so i need help fast.
okay so everything i try to open gets an illegal operation.
on startup the first thing to crash is poproxy then anything i try to open.

in my windows/app directory there is a poproxy thing that was created on april 24 2001.
there is also one in my norton antivirus from forever ago.

help.

poproxy is the part of Norton Antivirus that scans incoming e-mails. Maybe try to uninstall Norton...

THAT doesnt sound good, definetly uninstall norton and if everything wroks ok, then try to reinstall it.

Norton is crap, I had it on my comp, and it did the same crap to me. Not that, but it wouldnt let me open windows, it was all this safe mode rubbish. Screw norton for being so file evasive... I think you are SOL pal, reformatting sucks....

Boot in safe mode, then disable everything which starts automatically with Windows (Start > Run > type 'msconfig', then the last tab).

That will give you at least the control over your PC back.

also open the registry editor and search for files with *Norton* or *Symantec* and delete them...
