Actually, the data could be set up to be distributed to another university rather easily and the pre-processing done there, then distributed to clients, based perhaps on geography, such as say the East coast. By doing so, there would be many fewer connections to Berkeley and thus bandwidth costs would drop. It would also make sense in a disaster recovery sense since it's not as likely that one catastrophe like oh, say, an earthquake is going to take out both sites simultaneously.

Interesting thought about the team approach - the work would probably go much smoother. I like that idea!
I also wait for Parkes to come on line and for the alternative "seti" to start. But: do we know if that is going to happen? Are there any plans prepared? Would be interesting to know ... :Q

Well hopefully S@H will distribute some of the workload when Parkes comes online. Does anyone know where to even look for info on something like that???

Yep ,Im somewhat surprised that more active SETI users haven't donated ,oh well I hope they have enough & they have better plans for next year.
