I ran accross this in the forum & it looks like what I need to do, BUT I need it to work with a dynamix IP so that I don't have to constantly reset the addy in the rule & the router as well.

"Xbox 360

Name /Xbox 360
Priority/ 0/ Highest priority
Protocol/TCP and UDP
Source IP Address/ 192.168.0.45 to 192.168.0.45
Source Port range/ 1 to 65535
Destination IP Range/ 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255
Destination port range / 1 to 65535

So any traffic that my xbox 360 uses is given highest priority, i had previously setup the xbox just for some ports like the P2P program but it was using other ports as well so i changed it back to this way.
"

Anyone who could really help with this, I would greatly appreciate it. What happens now is that when the IP addy changes I lose connection to my Xbox Live & have to reset the router & the gamefuel setting to make it work again. This is very annoying considering I just blew over $600 for the 360 & the router, and yes D-Link support is garbage. Hire people that speak English & listen if you're gonna have tech support.

If you want to keep the rules concerning the XBox. You probably need to configure it with Static IP. By doing so your Xbox would always be on the same IP and the rules would always apply.

It this point might be that you want to reset every thing and start from scratch.

As far as ports goes, some ports need to be open for specific application when these application are getting outside input. However, the unit would use other ports as well and would open them according to its needs.

How do I configure it with static IP when my ISP only provides a dynamic IP. I don't mind starting from scrath on the router setup, I'm just sick of having to "power cycle" regularly to get my Xbox360 connection back when my PC has no problems handling the dynamic IP, even when I am gaming.

I will check this stuff out but the issue is more about GameFuel not adjusting to the changing IP address for my Xbox Live. I'm not sure how to explain it to someone who hasn'tused it, but I am pretty sure I need to setup a special exception that covers the possible IP addy range for Xbox Live + the router. Hope that makes sense. Anyways, I will check into your links.

I am using that router myself. I had a bit of issues with GameFuel and I currently have it turned off. Using it to set higher priority over other packets or whatever only makes so much of a difference. Unless you have multiple systems sucking up traffic this shouldn't be needed.

JackMDS said the important thing here, that the external IP isn't the problem it's the internal IP.

Try leaving everything to default settings and see if that changes. When I get home I will look over the gamefuel options and see if there is anything you might have overlooked. That router has a massive amount of options and the GameFuel setup may not be the problem, it could be something else.

Looking over it again, is the router setup for DHCP? Or is it setup for static? We don't have any information as to what other systems are using that router. I hope it works out for you though, I was pretty pleased when I got mine. Sweet router all together.

It IS a VERY SWEET router, but it is my first one. I understand the internal/external IP concept, and I am experienced in working with ipconfig in Windows. That said, neither of my PC's has had even a hint of a problem with the router.

Only my Xbox Live has had a problem & I think turning off GameFuel may be my only recourse at this point unless someone knows how to setup the rule to work with a dynamic internal IP. it changes ecery 1440 minutes or whatever is the default setting.

I'm not sure if it is setup for DHCP honestly, because I am totally new to routers. All I know is everything is at the default setting except GameFuel pretty much.

*Scratch that. Static IP in the 360 won't help if it can't resolve the DNS. Anyhow, I think the issue is GameFuel's unwillingness to adjust to the changing IP, so I'm just gonna have to run without GF until I figure out how to properly setup the rule to compensate for the changing IP addy.

Set statuc IP in Xbox, setup virtual server in router with proper ports opened for 360, put 360 in DMZ, and did about 20 other things to try & stop the drops from Xbox Live. Wierd thing is I can play single player online with zero issues, but try to play with other people & I get dropped despite passing the connectivity test & having an open NAT.

why put it in the DMZ?

does it work with Gamefuel off?

DNS shouldn't matter with a static IP, as you should assign a static DNS server

concerning the Static ip its very easy to do with this w/ this router all you need to do is tell the router to mask the ip to the MACID and the ip will never change again, no mater what

in the web management utility Basic> DHCP> add static ip then select the current ip of your xbox . you should also be able to see the macID for it aswell now just input the ip address you want it to have as a startic ip and click on save you should also name the profile of the ip/macid to identify that that is your xbox and that it your all set with a static internal ip .. i have 4 clients machines setup like this using static ip's

i have learned that gamefuel dosen't work so well on xbox like it should mostly because how it uses Udp. But on the pc it works like a dream I even have VOIP setup with Gamefuel so there never a problem when ppl are using P2P programs

Just make sure you have the game rule set for xbox live and you should be fine
xbox live rule: UDP 88, UDP 3074, and TCP 3074

almost forgot after you do this you must reset your xbox to obtain your new static ip

I have this router and i wouldn't trade it for any other router its the BEST i've ever owned

I'm going to add my two cents since I have a 4300 and have no problems with XBox Live on my XBox. The main issue I had with this router is that the DNS servers where not being pushed to the clients. All of a sudden I'd lose the ability to surf the net because I couldn't resolve the name (I could ping the web server just fine with the IP). To resolve this problem I turned off DNS relay on the router and manually entered the DNS server that my ISP assigned. Since I've made these changes I've been running problem free and super stable (no dropped connections). I haven't reboot my router in a long time. I'm also using a wireless adapter for my XBox and using WPA. Everythings been running great!

Well it turns out the problem was the cable modem I had. Swapped it out with a Motorola Surfboard & now everything runs as it should. Thanks for the tips guys.
