help w/external scsi burner

I was wondering if there is a way to set up my burner so that i can turn it off after boot up and then only turn it on when i want to use it? The way it is now if i turn it off it disappears outta my computer and when i turn it back on its still gone i have to reboot to get it to show up again. Any ideas? thx

after you turn it back on, go to device manager, and hit refresh button. The system should rescan your SCSI bus, and it should appear again.

esung is right...however, when I do that with my HP M820 (a portable external SCSI burner) Adaptec will not recognize it until I reboot.
