Help, WHS just died

I just converted the wife's old PC to a Windows Home Server machine and it worked fine for a few weeks. The other day I noticed that it was "offline" from my other PCs. It was still powered up, lights on, fans running, HD running, but no network connection and no video (from onboard vga). I rebooted and nothing. No signal at all to the monitor (tried two). No bios screen, no beeps, nothing. I even tried adding another video board. No dice.

Any thoughts? Motherboard or power supply maybe?

Since you have multiple computers, grab the PS from another one and try it on your broken box. If that doesn't fix the problem, then it's likely the mobo.

Yeah, assuming that it USED to beep, then it's likely either the PS or the motherboard. Or a bad PS has taken out the motherboard. Try a new PS first and see if you can get the MB to beep again. If it's a bad CPU or memory or video card, you should get beeps.

Next step disconnect all the peripherals (HD, CD-ROM, Floopy, what ever) and see if it boot to BIOS.

If it does not you have to take out the mobo with the cpu and the memeory put it on a static bag connect to a good known PSU, and try.

Does not work try memory.

Does Not work Try CPU.

Dose Not work, than it is the Mobo.

At these point, it is more of financial issue whether it worth to invest in old components or build something New.

OK. I tried a few tests. I tried a different CPU and a different power supply. Still the same. No beeps and no video signal. I did remove the memory and boot again with no beeps. At this point I guess everything points to the motherboard.

Jack, I agree about investing in old technology. Especially when I can get a motherboard, CPU and a gig of memory for $100. That being said, as much as I like building computers and buying parts, I'd rather not HAVE to. LOL.

Any last words before this thing hits the scrapyard?

If you just remove the memory, a functional motherboard should give a beep code.

Looks like the motherboard unfortunately. I tried with none/one/both of the memory sticks and no beeps or anything. The other thing that I noticed is that my USB keyboard/mouse combo does not seem to be getting power from the motherboard.
