Help, winantivirus 2007 pop up

I dont get it all the time but comes up time to time when I open up IE
I get a warning window saying some BS then when I click cancel, it takes me to winav 2007 website, have to click off few times to get rid of the window
I've ran all kinds of scans, normal and safemode
I can't seem to get rid of this
supposely VundoFix should remove this but when I run its scan, it comes up with nothing, but I know for sure I have it...

One thing that might help is that when that popup occurs, click on the "x" to close the window, and not the cancel option as that may more than likely be a link to their website.

I've never heard of VundoFix, I'll check it out. Another thing you may want to try is to do a repair install on your OS. This usually overwrites any system files back to the original configurations.

The best advice I can give (after those above me): use firefox, not IE.

That really has very little to do with the problem. The best advice is to use a limited account for your daily tasks and only switch to administrative privileges when necessary.

I had to clean up a computer once by someone who actually purchased that software through some website - then the machine completely blew up when he tried to install IE7 on top of all that crap.

I think remembering needing to use the smitrem software (along with other things of course), it's in John's anti-spyware tools collection somewhere around this site.

Nice troll. Unfortunately, at least on Vista IE7 with restriced mode is safer than Firefox (since it doesnt support restricted mode yet)
