This should be a simple matter, but I'm stumped...
I have 2 computers. One called "Office" and another one aptly named "Room", this being the main one.
My equipment:
Room - 1-Gigabit , 1-100 Megabit.
Office - 1-100 Megabit
1 Xbox 360
2 Standard DSL Modems
1 D-Link 4 port + Uplink HUB
Plenty of Ethernet cords (non interlaced or whatever they are called).
Originally, I had one modem for each computer. Rarely both of them needed to get online, so I just plugged-unplugged them and voila. However, me being more lazy but still cheap (not buying router) want to share a connection between the 2 computers.
Using the network setup wizard, I established a workgroup and both computers are able of transferring files between them, but "Office" had a "Limited or no Connectivity" error. Couldnt repair, downloaded MS patch, issue continued. Automatic IP and DNS on both computers.
Right now, I have settled down having 1 modem plugged to the HUB, which is plugged to each computer. We can share files, but only 1 computer can be online at the time.
This being said, I also want to plug my 360 somehow, on the HUB...
I'm not worried about having bandwith problems, yet I know buying a router would solve all my issues...
Thank you all!
