$500 budget for gaming build, will overclock cpu and gpu.

Will buy from U.S. local microcenter or frys. Anywhere U.S. online.

Reusing these: seagate hdd 750gb 7200rpm, sapphire radeon 7850, asus 26" 1200p monitor, windows 7 64-bit, 500watt OCZ modxstream psu

Want to buy:
cpu: intel i5-3570k ($190 at microcenter)
motherboard: ??????
case: ??????
ram: ??????
cpu cooler: ????? want best air cooler under $50

So basically need help choosing the case, z77 mobo, and ram.

For the case, I'm leaning towards a corsair 400r or cm690 II advanced, but still open to others. Care about temps, noise, dust, and roomy the most.

Thanks for any help.

Mobo: Asrock Z77 Extreme4 $90 with i5-3570K
Case: lots to choose from, really... e.g. Antec One Illusion $60, Antec 302 $70, NZXT Tempest 410 $70, Lian Li K9WX $64 after promo, Corsair 400R $80 after rebate. 690II lacks USB3.0 so I'd rule that out, not that it's a particularly essential feature but other cases at the same price point offer it so why not.
RAM 2x4GB 1600MHz 1.5V such as this $43
Cooler Hyper 212+ $20 AR is the best bang for buck as always, but for under $50 there's also CNPS10X Performa $35 AR, Hyper 612 PWM $50, Scythe Mugen 3 $50

Are you reusing the PSU?

Awesome, thanks.

I think i'll go for that asrock extreme4 when it comes back in stock. I'm gonna go get that hyper 212+, too cheap to pass up, since my budget is small.

Will check out the cases you listed.

Oh forgot to list, reusing an OCZ modxstream 500watt psu

One thing though, are the ram with the big heatsinks any better?

Nope, RAM doesn't need those giant heatsinks, especially when it's being run at stock voltage, which you should be doing.

The ModXstream isn't the greatest PSU in the world (not something that I'd recommend buying new), but it should be fine for this application. I can overlook a lot of technical deficiencies for the price of $free.

ModXStream isn't bad, it can deliver its full wattage and beyond in high ambient temperatures cleanly. If you were on the market for a new unit though, there would be many better alternatives

Change ram for the Samsung 30nm 1600 1.35v ram and over clock those suckers to 2133 9-10-9

I'm guessing 1.35v better than 1.5v ram?? Which 600w psu's are good anyways, just for future reference, I will probably never go sli or xfire, so probably won't need more power then that.

I think I decided on my case. I'm gonna splurge up and get a corsair 500r, I figure a nice case may last multiple builds.

Doesn't really matter. 1.35V just consumes a bit less power but RAM consumes very very little power to begin with.

Anything from Antec, Seasonic, Corsair, XFX, NZXT, PC Power & Cooling. Not a conclusive list but hopefully sufficient. Other manufacturers have some nice units too, e.g. OCZ's new ZS, ZT and ZX series are all pretty decent

Not a good idea, the only difference to 400R is the 200mm side fan and since you're probably never going sli/cf, you don't need it. Even if you did go sli/cf you could just add a 140mm side fan on the 400r. After rebate, 500R is $40 more expensive... it'd be stupid to pay $40 for a 200mm fan
