help with a7n8x-e deluxe!!!

i just got an asus a7n8xe deluxe from newegg, but i have trouble with it booting up with the proper settings. Runs fine with no bios changes and will take all changes in the bios except when I change the default "optimum" memory to user defined as synched 100% running at 333 mhz with a barton 2500 and generic 2x256 pc3700 (or else it will run 333 fsb and 400 memory), it freezes on the restart right after it detects the processor and then I have to clear the CMOS in order to unfreeze it.

Now i've used these parts on another nforce2 333 board Leadtek 18D MCP and everything worked fine, but I just wanted to be able to push the FSB past the 180 mhz barrier and thus bought this. Could it be that the new ultra 400 MCPT or a7n8xe D are picky about ram, could i have some messed up setting in there, the board is sorta bad when changing defaults, or is the 1009 version bios a solution?

as of now i dont have extra ram to try, but i will see if there is a bios update that will correct this.

I jsut got a A7N8X-E Deluxe and a Athlon XP 3200+ with 2 x 512MB PC3200 DDR Ram.

i ahve the same problem, when i set the clock to 200Mhz, it freezes. i have to change it to 166 for it to boot. i have also locked up a few times, this is a clean install on a SATA drive so i had to install drivers on setup.

A7N8X-E Deluxe (latest bios installed 1012)
Athlon XP 3200+ Barton Core
2 X 512MG PC3200 (400Mhz)
WD Raptor 10,000 RPM SATA

i [think] all the drivers are up to date.

Start by raising the memory voltage to 2.7 volts, without altering the other settings. Now do a Save & Exit, and let it complete the next POST. This tells it "ok, that setting change is ok to keep." Now try going in and changing the memory to run sync'ed.

Also, is your power supply a good-quality brand with enough wattage to float the boat properly? Fortron, Antec, Enermax, PC Power & Cooling...?

UPDATE

I realized a few days after the doing some research that there is a bios update up to 1011. The current version of my bios is 1009. The issue that 1010 or 1011 fixes is boot failure when changing the default aperture agp size with a ATI 9700 chipset. Guess what, I have a radeon 9700 pro..... :frown: i can make any changes to the bios other than AxA size no problem. I tried to update teh bios using the award utility, but it freezes several times right after it asks me if i want to update. So until i can figure that out, ill leave it as is, but there's probably not much of a difference changing 64 meg to 128 or 256 meg size using a 128 meg DDR card and 512 system memory.

Btw, i can reach 2430 mhz stable in all games with this setup with thermaltake silentboost air cooling at like 83 deg system temp and between 47-53 celcius cpu temp, and 2500 mhz unstable b/c the memory voltage at 2.8 and probably the inability to change the chipset voltage like the epox 8rda3+ is keeping me from that.
