Help with RAM please!

Ok well merry christmas everyone. This morning i got another gig of ram for my comp. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16820145576

My mother board is an ASUS K8N E-Deluxe

I already had 1 gig of ram on my board, (2x512) of geil pc3200 value ram.

i was planning on putting in the new single gig stick, and one of the 512mb sticks, to make 1.5gigs. (i heard putting all 3 sticks in would just slow it down) But when i put both sticks in, my computer turns on, but i get no video an no "beep" that the comp has started. when i put only the single gig stick, it works fine. or when i go back to my old ram setup it works fine.

what does this mean? why can i not have the two sticks in at once, if i cant, it defeats teh whole purpose of me getting the new ram because i still only have one gig in the end.

Do you have BIOS version 1011 installed?

If you go to page 33 of the manual .pdf http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock754/K8N-E_DX/e1883_k8n-e_deluxe.pdf, it will tell you about the RAM configuration. ok well in the manual it says "ALways install DIMMs with the same CAS Latency. But i heard that was only a recommendation and that it didnt really matter. Also hwo do i know if my ram is doubleor single sided. Im so nervous that this isnt giong to work is there a chance that it just might not work at all?

If the RAM sticks don't all run at the same latency, then the BIOS could load a faster latency than the new stick can handle, and the new one or possibly the old ones could be unstable, just like in OCing. Before installing the new stick, go into the BIOS and manually set the latencies to whatever the new stick is rated at. If this doesn't work, try 4-4-4-8. If that still doesn't work, it truly is a compatibility issue.

my new stick is rated at CAS 2, and my two old ones were just CAS. so i set the BIOS to 2, but it did not fix the problem. i dont know where im going to be able to put 4-4-4-8. Where can i enter that?
