Help with this database

Hi,

I'm helping someone rewrite the code of his website wich is written in ASP, but I figured it might be better to start by rearranging the DB before doing so.

Now, I'm a little bit rusty with DB (... no... I meant A LOT!) and this DB is a mess. There are no relations at all just to give you an idea.

Anyway, tomorrow I'll start redesigning the DB, but if you could give me some hints on what should be done and also why, that'd be nice. If you have any questions about the tables, feel free to ask me.

No, that's one of the things I'm planning to do. I've only got one question about the consolidating.

There is a "user_links" table which contains all the links the user has in his personnalized section. Now, should I keep this table and have something like

username link_id
temporary 4
temporary 5
temporary 89
bob 12
bob 16
bob 34

or should I just add the link_id to the members table and separate each value by a special caracter?

Make the members table contain all the user specific info, such as name, address, id, phone, etc... user id becomes your primary key, and any other table that needs user information only needs to reference the user id. For instance, the baz table would lose a lot of those redundant fields.

Keep the user links table, otherwise the user table will get too big.
