I honestly doubt that. Obviously something inhibits the regeneration function when there is penetration of the brain. You could probably grind him or Claire into sausage meat in their impaired state and they'd stay dead.

1) Sylar doesn't have healing powers. We know this because at the end of the episode he finds claire and kills her, saying something along the lines of "I have been looking for you for a long time." So he has healing powers only AFTER that. If he had gotten it from some other means, why would he STILL be looking for Claire.
2) In the SAME timeline Future Hiro remembers stabbing Sylar but not killing him because he had healing powers.

peter vs sylar is interesting as peter can absorb all of the powers sylar has, so would seem that peter would have the advantage in the end.
Peter can stop time and Sylar cannot unless I missed something. That's my one main gripe with this show. The guys who can stop/manipulate time must be stupid because they don't realize what it really means. Who cares if Sylar might win if they went straight up when Peter could just freeze frame and do whatever he wants to the guy? I know it wouldn't be as interesting of a show but it's almost an insult to our intelligence to have that awesome power in play and think we will be blinded enough to not consider the fact that Peter is pretty much unstoppable unless he get something lodged in his brain.

Hiro is focused on the skill and is having problems using it. For Peter it's just one of his tools.
