3 monitors, 3 PC (2.8GHz 512mb, 2.8GHz 512mb, 1.8Ghz 1Gb, all P4),

We run a quad-thread compiler so it is still too slow, take 10 mins per build.

Wow some of you have some high end systems! I thought I'd have everyone beat, but I saw several that were nicer than mine...

Main Rig
Custom built for us by someone, don't know who but I wish they let me do it!
Dual Xeon 3.2ghz
2GB ECC RAM (unkown speed)
Seagate 36GB SCSI hard drive 15K rpm (everything gets stored on the network)
ATI Fire GL X1 256mb
3 Compaq 19" LCDs, together at 3072X768
T3 connection

Phone rig
Some Dell crap which is still extreme overkill for what it's doing:
P3 1.4ghz
512mb RAM
30GB HD
integrated graphics
NEC 19" LCD

Reference PC
The one I mostly use for internet/email, which happens to be the slowest:
P3 700mhz
128mb RAM
9GB HD! (I just complained it was full and got myself a new 80GB Maxtor)
integrated graphics
Dell 19" LCD

So total I've got 5 19" monitors in my face, 10 hours a day, and unfortunately none of that time is spent gaming...

Ok I can understand the nice T-43s or T-42p laptops, but why the heck would you need Raptors, 3 LCDs or 7800gtx cards for a work machine unless you're in the gaming industry...? Even then it seems unnecessary.

2GB Ballistix

2 DVD-RW Optical Drives
2405FPW (hugged by 2001FPs on each side)

I'm surrounded by 7 other PCs (4 directly at my feet, and another 4 just to the right of me that I use)
2400+ XP (256MB Parhelia installed driving the 3 monitors above as well)
P4D 830
FX53
Dual 2400+ MP
Dual Opteron 240
4600+ X2
Dual 2.8GHz Xeon

It would take too long to list the specs of all the boxes, but you get the point.

And you need all this for...?

I suspect that some of these folks "workplace" is the local computer store, so maybe they build those crazy boxes to show off to customers? In my case, the 3 LCD's are for a large desktop running an emergency dispatch program with lots of maps. The other 2 computers/LCD's are for our phone software and our reference PC. I WISH I could use the main system for gaming but the video card is not great for that use.
