High speed cameras?

What price range do entry level high speed cameras run at? I'm coming across many that are $20k, anything cheaper?

I guess I'm looking for something that isn't $20k, but captures more than 30 fps, and focuses better on fast moving objects.

For example, one usage might be to capture the motion of a playing card being thrown by a human at 60-70 mph.

Faster than 30 fps and you're looking at video.

As for capturing motion, does ambient light matter? If not, just go by flash duration.

In another era, motion pictures (16mm) were shot at 24 fps for sound films. Slow motion was 64 fps. Today's NTSC video is 29.97 fps. So, you are really specifing slow motion video - say 60 fps. That is far below the capability of scientific high speed cameras. Prosumer video equipment should fill your bill. Check EBay for High Speed Cameras.

Some of the higher end sony camcorders allow you to record 3 seconds at 240fps.

we are really just looking for something that can do over 50fps we would prefer 100fps and lighting is not a problem
