Hitachi LCD CML175SXW2B or CML175SXWB?

Hi AnandTech members:

Trying to decide which one to buy?

Think I've figured out the difference -

CML175SXW2B - has Hyundai Panel / 20ms / 24 Bit Color
CML175SXWB - has AU Optics Panel / 16ms / 18 Bit Color

Are they identical other than the above?

Are approximately the same price at monitorsdirect.com
2B is $419 and B is $409 .

Would appreciate any suggestions regarding which to buy?

FYI - I am not a gamer; use mostly for Ebay, spreadsheets, business.

i use the same LCD panel with the 18 bit color, and i can asure you that you won't notice a difference(the color is fantastic), you also won't notice the 4ms difference. do research on overall qualities of the two pannels and/or pick whichever is cheaper.

I have the 2B and it's great for all around use. The built-in speakers are a nicer feature than you first think because it means having even less clutter on your desk. Has a really thick bezel, but it doesn't look bad, imo. I'm still comparing it to another monitor, but I did a whole day's work on it and played a half dozen games and for most of the day totally forgot I was using an LCD.

What the hell though, you can return it if you don't like it.

i have three LCDs with the 16ms panel, i've had them for just about a year now, not a single dead pixel and spec of trouble. love'em.

Any ghosting experienced with the CML 174, Hitachi LCD's seem to be excellent for the money?

I've tried every high end monitor and they ALL ghost. They just ghost in different amounts for different applications. It's really so minimal that, unless you're anal and fixated on it, you'll come to forget it's there.

the only time i notice it is when scrolling quickly through text and web sites. you get used to it and never notice it after awhile.

I BOUGHT BOTH of these monitors.

The CML175B is far superior.

It is much brighter, therefore making the colors stand out more vibrantly.

The 175sxw2b DOES have higher contrast (you can tell) but it is soo dim that it defeasts the purpose.
