The setup:
S754 A64 3200+ NewCastle
DFI UT Lanparty nF3 250Gb
1x512mb stick of PDP Patriot PC3200+XBL (Samsung TCCD 440 chips)
9800 Radeon Pro

Hit the wall at the following:
@227 HTT, 2-2-2-5, 2.6V
@234 HTT, 2-2-2-5, 3.0V
@266 HTT, 2.5-4-4-7, 2.6V
@266 HTT, 3-4-4-7, 3.0V

So, obviously I'm hitting a wall at 266 HTT. This was all @ an 8x multi. I lowered the multi to 7 to see if I could get a better reaction out of the chips, but no, still hit this 266 HTT wall.

The Lanparty allows me to go up to 3.2V (I think), however a +.4V change did nothing for the memory. I don't want to venture too far out of spec at the moment... or at least until I get some active cooling on the memory.

It memtest's fine @ 260 HTT, 2.5-4-4-7, 2.6V, no errors. But that seems to be the max I can get it stable. And even though the mobo allows TCL options of 3.5 and 4, the comp refuses to boot at the timings.

Is the only way to get more out of my memory to keep adding on the volts? I thought TCCD didn't really care for voltage that much, at least, not in the way BH-5 loved it.

I have the same chip, and mobo, with Mushkin BH-5. My memory will memtest just fine upto 260HTT running 1:1 at 2-2-2-5 at only 3.1v, but will have to run a 8 multiplier. I can also run 250 at 9 multi, and 235 at 10 multi. I don't know if it's better to run these higher HTT with such low multipliers, resulting in about 2200mhz, or to run my current setup at 225x11 running about 200mhz faster.

lower ram divider....even if the ram can do high fsb this will probably solve the issue...go from 1:1 or 200 to ram 166

also I would recommend setting it at 10 not 7...remember Zebo thread above on ram settings...

What you are experiencing is the on die memory controller's limits. This is a common problem with the Athlon 64's. I can run up to 300HTT with the same board stable, but not at 1:1. My TCCD ram runs just fine up to 300mhz, but the memory controller cannot handle it. If I use only one stick rather than two, it works fine. 260 is the best I can achieve at 1:1.

1:1 is not important except for benchmarks for the most part real world no differences...see Zebo's thread above...winrar does benefit some

Did that, memory still tops out at ~260 HTT.

Is the problem just that the chip can not handle the memory going past 260 and therefore, my memory will max at 260?
