First let me predicate the following remarks by the following: There isn't much difference between AllOfMP3 and downloading from your favorite free service except that AllOfMP3 makes it a bit simpler and perhaps offers more choices at all times. But the artists are still taking it up the down side when you "buy" from AllOfMP3. The only ones making anything are the, er, "businessmen" at AllOfMP3.

OK, let's say that doesn't bug you (YMMV). Then the following is true:

They used to have a good deal: $10 (or something like that) a month for up to 1000 songs at up to 128kbps encoding. Slow download rate, but OK if you used a download manager.

Then they went to a cost per mb only basis and they're hardly that hot a deal anymore.

To each his own. I enjoy the selection of music and the sound quality at this site is superior to anywhere period. Plus the fact that I can get multuple cd's in very high quility for under a dollarl makes it worth it to me. And I have yet to see an article proving its illeagel. They pay the russian music tax and are going by all the guidelines of there country. I havent recieved any emails from the RIAA and neither have any other users. So until you can prove what they are doing is illegal stay the fvck away from my threads with your thread crapping.

Hey, if the ethics don't bother you, then what you're saying is you'd rather pay AllOfMP3 than get them free. Uh, OK. (You said you got multiple CDs for a buck, which indicates you're downloading in "about as good as listening over the phone" quality--the same kind of quality you can easily find elsewhere).

I don't know if that makes you a philanthropist or an idiot. Though given your inability to actually understand the essence of what I originally wrote tends to slant the table in a certain direction, if you know what I mean. Which maybe you don't.

allofmp3 threads always turn into someone insisting that it's illegal (despite nobody ever showing any reason why it is, other than that it's in Russia).

But yeah, the 10mb offer if a good way to try the service out, see how it works, and download a couple tunes.

Do you actually understand how music copyright works in Russia? Because you've just called every record store and every record buyer in Russia a music pirate. Do you realize that the people ROMS doesn't pay is the record companies?

Now think about the 1-3% of GROSS PROFIT that artists make in the US, AFTER paying back the record company for their expenses to produce your album. Record companies that will actually bankrupt artists with hit records.

I don't have any numbers, but it seems totally plausible that artists would actually get a similar cut from ROMS or US record companies.

their downloads used to be really fast....until people found out about it...now they're piss slow, but for a penny a megabyte, i'm not gonna complain about 56k speeds....the service is nice, you can encode in ogg vorbis, wma, lossless.....for a penny a megabyte....only thing is that they don't get the latest songs for a few weeks (usually)

I like allofmp3, and tell everybody I know about them. F*** the RIAA, just make sure you fund with a one time credit card number.

And here's another hidden use for this site, if nothing else: they let you preview entire albums/compilations as M3U playlists streamed at a low bitrate, no snippets... this will make a GREAT internet radio solution for me at work Cheers OP

Use their explorer program. It downloads MUCH faster through that. I can get about 350K/sec on a good day.
