All the ones I've seen the outlets still work, it's just that the lights, ac, and whatever is hardwired into the room (like the tv) won't.

They have them in Japan too.

"let's turn the A/C off when they leave the room so when they come back it's hotter than sweaty ball$ack" That's a fvcking fabulous idea!!

yeah that happened to us when we were in a nice hotel in bangkok. i started rooting around my bag and found a card that was similar in size and weight to the key card, and just left it in there when we were gone so the AC would run. we were up on the 80th floor or something, so there was NO WAY i wouldn't leave the AC on.

ummm... No. It's usually better designed than that.

not ONE of the rooms had an alarm clock. The only thing there was was a TV alarm, which the TV would turn on at the time u specify, and progressively get louder.

incorrect, the TV would not work while there was no power. the lights and AC included did not work. However id assume the TV had a battery and yeah, it remembered the wak up call time.

when you first turn on the tv it says like "Welcome Mr Brandon B" and stuff like that

Obviously untrue.

about the one key thing, if you are living in the same room with the person, it's not like you're not going to meet them again. and some hotels (4 *s +) DO give you two keys.

also, most of the 4*+ hotels i've stayed in that had the key thing, and a timer when you removed the key, so that you could do something for about 20 seconds to a minute (depending on what they set it to) so it wasn't only a switch that turned on or off.
