This is one of those things that seems HIGHLY suspicious but sadly still could have plausibly occurred due to government incompetence.

You can't just lose "some" of the text messages. Either they are all there or they are not if accident. "Some" of them being missing could only be intentional.

Besides government records like these must be retained according to law. It's the same as Trump shredding his papers.

The impression I got was it was entire devices that weren't backed up before being disposed of, not individual texts. If it turns out to be individual deletions then I totally agree though.

Even if it were an entire device the person on the other end should still have a copy of the text thread.

This is why I think it may turn out that some of these texts are in fact recoverable. Without knowing what percentage of the phones were backed up or destroyed though we can't say because if two phones were not backed up then there's no person on the other end and I imagine a lot of the texts in question were between two USSS agents' phones.

is this good? /S

It's all good. The SS came up with exactly ONE text exchange made by the 24 personnel whose records were requested. I'm sure they all just weren't doing any texting during and after the Jan 6 events.

What’s bothering me about the whole story is:
A) Trump appointee is or was running the place. As I said in another threat these turds are shown to be incompetent time after time, they all should be purged
B) The absolute shit attitude the Secret Service has about this. They keep repeating the same shit “we’ve supplied 10s of thousands of emails”. Tough shit those records are not what we are talking about. YOU STILL DONT HAVE THE DOCUMENTS REQUESTED AND DEVICES WERE DELETED AFTER BEING REQUESTED.

I'm looking at congress, and THIS...
Bipartisan group of senators cuts deal to change election laws in response to January 6 attack

And THIS...
According to a fact sheet on the legislation, the proposal dealing with the vice president's role would make clear that the responsibility is "solely ministerial and that he or she does not have any power to solely determine, accept, reject, or otherwise adjudicate disputes over electors."

And THIS...
Democratic Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia said the bill would make it harder to overturn an election when a joint session of Congress convenes to certify a presidential election.

And I'm thinking WTF....
Are we living in some third world country???
That we need laws to thwart the overturning of a fair and constitutionally protected US election? HOW does Donald Trump get away with this crap? To first get elected, and THEN to assault our democracy up to the point of extinction? And Trump gets away with this to the point where Trump is allowed to run again for the same office? To succeed in his second attempt where he failed in his first attempt? And this is allowed? No one can do anything about this? And we now actually need to enact new laws to address this?
Does not our current law protect from the acts of would-be terrorist and traitorous individuals?
WTF people....

So DHS IG knew texts were deleted at least as early as October, but said nothing.

“A watchdog agency knew in February about the Secret Service’s deletion of text messages sent around the time of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol but chose not to alert Congress, according to The Washington Post. The Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General also reportedly prepared in October 2021 to make a public alert about the Secret Service blocking requests for text messages and other records about the Jan. 6 insurrection, but ultimately chose not to do so.”

I'm just a humble country chicken lawyer, but isn't that A Bad Thing for Bannon?

He literally has no defense, there are tweets & interviews of him saying he has no intention of complying to the summons and so forth.
All his ore trial stuff was based upon you can’t charge me for “reasons” and they were all shot down.
At one point pre trial his lawyer even said after all objections where denied Bannon has no defense.

Lets face the truth. Donald Trump is a soviet operative, supported and empowered by other soviet operatives surrounding him. Is that so unimaginable? For a long long time the soviets have been dead set on infiltrating the US government from within, and then tearing it down. And they found that guy in Donald Trump.

Just look at Trump. His wives are foreign and have funny names like Melania and Ivana. And his kids, Ivanka and Eric, again very soviet popular names. Exactly the names one would expect from a soviet operative.

And what about those shady loans from soviet banks? Has Trump ever paid them back? Was Trump expected to pay them back? Frankly, that in itself looks very suspicious. We all know how totally incompetent Donald Trump is, especially financially, so why is he so rich? By other peoples money? Payments for services rendered? Is this how you fund a soviet operative?

And consider those operatives surrounding Donald Trump that protect him. All of them soviet operatives as well. And Trump appoints them all into high powerful positions.
The missing secret service texts are one example. Why would texts go missing in the first place? Answer... to protect Donald Trump. Exactly the job of the soviet operatives surrounding Donald Trump. ALL OF THEM WITCHES, as the saying goes. They know why they were put there, and what is expected of them.

And look at the US congress. Would it be so unimaginable that we have a rats nest of soviet operatives residing in congress? In fact, that would make sense and explain a lot. First you subvert the US congress, and then you have the ability to go beyond with targeting the US presidency itself.

And once you have all your soviet operatives in place, it's check mate. Then comes the destruction of American democracy. This explains everything. This certainly explains Donald Trump, and the takeover of the republican congress, and the undying loyalty, and the never ending cover-up from government agencies like the secret service.

It all makes sense....
Why else would someone as Donald Trump, so obviously guilty of high crimes, continue to get away with it? And these never-ending barrage of "protectors" who surround him, they seemingly come out of the woodwork whenever needed. On and on and on....

Might this be some well devised game? A game in pretending to hold Trump accountable while actually empowering Donald Trump even more, right into the presidency? And this next time there will be no patriots remaining to protect our democracy.

Put your Mission Impossible hat on and ask yourself, if you were the soviet union how would you attack and destroy a democracy? With guns and rockets, or the implant of soviet operatives?
And proving the skills of the soviets to succeed just might explain why they would go after the most weak and most easily fooled, the religious fundamentalist. This would explain their unholy alliance with Donald Trump, where the soviets know who they are dealing with and who they are needing to fool.

Not really. All the defense has to do is convince the judge (or jury? I haven't followed enough to even know which) that the prosecution failed to make a case to refute and therefore no defense is necessary. Or use the "even if everything the prosecutor said is true, there is no crime here" approach.
